I recently photographed the launch of the new Manchester United third kit at Salford Lads & Girls Club, working for TOL Events on behalf of adidas. The event brought together Manchester United supporters, former players and one of Salford's most recognisable buildings for an afternoon centred around the new 2026/27 shirt.

As a Manchester-based editorial photographer, I was commissioned by London creative agency Sunday to photograph David Farrington MRICS for Modus, the magazine of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

David is a surveyor with the Friends of Friendless Churches, a small charity dedicated to rescuing and caring for historic places of worship that have become redundant and vulnerable to neglect. The assignment took us to two churches in North Wales and Anglesey, St Baglan’s at Llanfaglan and St Tyfrydog’s at Llandyfrydog.

I recently photographed the opening of Hyundai Translocal Series: Entangled and Woven at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. The exhibition brings together new work by contemporary artists and collectives from Korea and India with historic textiles from the Whitworth's collection, exploring connections between Manchester, India and Korea through textiles, craft, migration, labour and cultural exchange.

I recently photographed Looking Ahead: The Future of Residential Design, a morning seminar and networking event organised by P+HS Architects with Lichfields at the Townhouse Hotel in Manchester.

The event brought together architects, planners, housing professionals and other people working across the built environment to discuss some of the changes facing residential development. The programme covered planning reform, sustainability, viability, housing quality and the Future Homes Standard, with presentations, a panel discussion and opportunities for people to meet and exchange ideas.

For me, the job was to document all of that without simply producing a series of photographs of people sitting in a room listening to presentations.

I recently photographed a series of student award winners for the Health and Social Care faculty at Manchester Metropolitan University. The brief was to make portraits of the students around the university campus, giving each person a photograph that felt individual while still working as part of a coherent set.

I recently photographed Sally and Hattie Dynevor for The Sunday Times as part of its Family Values series. The assignment was to make a series of portraits of the mother and daughter, photographing them in their homes and using the domestic setting as part of the story.

Portrait photography is often about much more than simply finding somewhere to stand and taking a good picture. The setting, the light and the relationship you establish with the people you're photographing all have an impact on the final images. Even when you're working with people who are very used to being in front of a camera, I think it's important to create an atmosphere where people can relax and the photographs can happen fairly naturally.

I recently photographed The Pump House in Lancaster, a restored industrial building designed and delivered by Just H Architects. The project includes both the exterior transformation and the interior architectural fit-out, which I also photographed in a previous stage of the work.

The Whitworth in Manchester hosted an upcycling workshop led by artist Delaine Le Bas and textile designer Wendy Roby, bringing together participants to explore experimental approaches to clothing, textiles and material transformation. The workshop formed part of the public programme surrounding Le Bas’s wider exhibition practice, focusing on reuse, storytelling and creative intervention through materials.
