Editorial Photography for Connected Places Catapult and Innovation Launchpad Network+

I recently photographed Kristina Parry for Connected Places Catapult as part of a feature exploring collaboration between academic researchers, universities and industry organisations across the UK. The photographs were produced for an article focused on the Researchers in Residence programme and the wider Innovation Launchpad Network+, both of which support partnerships between universities, innovation networks and industry specialists.

The feature looked at the role of connecting academic research with practical industry applications, helping researchers develop relationships with organisations working across transport, infrastructure, public services and the built environment. Kristina Parry’s work centres around building these connections between universities, researchers and innovation-focused organisations, helping create opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Environmental Portrait Photography for Universities and Research Organisations

The photography for this commission was created in a natural editorial style, using a mixture of portrait photography and environmental imagery within the working space itself. Rather than relying on formal corporate setups, the aim was to produce photographs that felt relaxed, observational and connected to the context of the article.

Documentary Photography for Academic and Innovation Projects

Connected Places Catapult regularly works with universities, researchers and public sector organisations to support innovation projects throughout the UK. The accompanying article discussed how programmes like Researchers in Residence help bridge the gap between academic research and industry-led innovation by creating direct collaboration opportunities between researchers and businesses.

For this shoot, I focused on creating a small set of flexible images that could work across editorial layouts, online publishing and communications material. Working in this more documentary-led way allows the photographs to feel natural while still maintaining a clean and professional visual style suitable for publication.
